Building on the success of Deepchild’s smash, ‘The Suffering Ones’, we’ve collected remixes of the tune from some of our favorite established and upcoming artists. Keeping with the spirit of this song – which takes “Why are we the ones who suffer?” as its rallying refrain – we’ve decided to donate the label’s proceeds from the first 99 sales of the remix pack to the Occupy Movement; specifically, to our hometown chapter: Occupy Toronto. After the first 99 sales, Thoughtless will continue to donate 1% of all sales of the remix pack to #Occupy. The Occupy Movement is currently facing eviction and oppression throughout North America.  The movement is still finding its voice and direction. At Thoughtless, we support this process and view it as a fundamental right. Rather than find fault with the movement, we would like to see it grow and mature into an influential force for those with no voice and limited agency. We feel the Occupy mentality is vital to maintain in order to affect positive change within our world. Some have chosen to condemn the movement for its lack of organization and leaders; here at Thoughtless we applaud the inclusive spirit and horizontal power structure the Occupy Movement represents, and prefer to find ways to support this unprecedented movement rather than criticize or tear it down. With this in mind, [a]pendics.shuffle gets the party started with an infectiously melodic mix, followed by the dirty bounce of Hot Waves’ Toronto upstart Sean Roman. Label boss Noah Pred turns in an hypnotic yet dynamic rework, while Tim Xavier turns in his second remix of ‘The Suffering Ones’ – this time driven by throbbing 808 kicks. Hot off their release for Turbo, Gingy & Bordello deliver a stripped-down big room techno bomb, while Arthur Oskan fires up the analog rig for a Detroit-style revision. Following up their recent EP for Thoughtless, Phantom Ambulance apply a wistful new wave melancholy to great effect, while XI rubs it down with plenty of bass in his “2-step-meets-techno in a dark back alley” styled rework. All in all, a collection that not only highlights the strength and beauty of the original, but the diversity of an expanding Thoughtless roster.
